Research Analysis
Based on our hypothesis, we had some correlations:
- Century College students who play video games tend to work part time rather than full time.
- Century College students play Madden regularly watch or like American football than who do not play Madden.
Our group hypothesis is "student who plays Madden tends to be an active person." We found the relationship between Century students' activity level and playing Madden. We had these two charts below (males and females) which demonstrate our results.
As you can see, the only difference between these two charts is the converse location of two line red and blue. That illustrates at Century College male students play Madden more than female students . However, the similarity between these two charts is both lines red and blue go downturn. It demonstrates that the activity level of both male and female students at Century College is inversely proportional to amount of students who play Madden.
As a result, our hypothesis was wrong. We found out that a person plays madden doesn't mean that they are more likely to be a very active person.
Study Evaluation
After the survey with 170 students in Century College, we found out that our hypothesis was wrong. Not anyone who plays Madden tends to be an active person.
While compiling 11 questions for the survey, we did not add the demographic question about race or ethnicity because we believe that though Century students are African American, Native, Hispanic or Asian, it does not tell whether they are an active person or not. Moreover, there is only a small amount of Asian students than native students in Century College, so we did not think ethnicity question was appropriate for our study.
After compiling 11 questions for the survey, we thought they were good enough to provide adequate information for the study. However, after asking the students at school, we realized some questions are not useful because and easy for us to conclude the discussion. For example, the question number 8 (What console do you own?) was not useful for our hypothesis as well as the whole study at all. No matter which console gamers play cannot tell what types of gamers are or which activity level they belong to. Therefore, there is no chart for that question because the students’ answers were more than one and confusing. It’s easy for the study to be mistaken. Thus, we did not have the exact result for that question.
Even though this was just a small research study, but we think our results are somehow accurate. We tried to ask random students in East Campus, West Campus, the Nest, video game center, and other classrooms instead of asking people we know. Therefore, we believe that out results are quite accurate and will be more exact if we have more time and ask more people.
After study about Madden NFL franchise we found this game is very good and has a dominant development growth as well as popularity in video games industry as a whole. Furthermore, based on the survey, we believed that there is a large amount of male students in Century College like play Madden.
